Schwarz et al v. Google LLC, 3:25-cv-3125 (N.D. Cal.)
On April 7, 2025, Plaintiffs, K-12 students and their parents, sued Google, which markets products to schools that include the Chromebook, ChromeOS, the Chrome browser, and a suite of cloud-based web applications, alleging that Google generates, collects, uses, and shares information about them without their consent.
Plaintiffs assert claims under

- Section 1983 (14th Amendment),
- the Federal Wiretap Act,
- the California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA),
- the California Comprehensive Computer Data Access and Fraud Act (CADAFA),
- California’s Unfair Competition Law, (vii) common law invasion of privacy for the public disclosure of private facts,
- common law invasion of privacy for intrusion upon seclusion, and
- common law unjust enrichment.
